Biography

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Kimsey Cooper spent her elementary, middle, and high school years living in the small suburb county of Harrison. Aside from attending school, Kimsey was a part of many sports like basketball and cheerleading, and participated in after school activities like Student Council and Tri-Hi-Y. Kimsey also spent an average of two and a half months in Central America (mainly Costa Rica) on mission trips. After graduation, Kimsey applied and was accepted to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. After having trouble deciding on a major, Kimsey went from thinking about medical school to veterinary school, and eventually landed on the field of Nutrition. Her interest in the growing concern of public health problems and the desire to help teach the world how to combat obesity is what really helped her choose this option. Her current job as a Student Sports Nutrition Assistant with the UT athletic department has really helped her gain the experience desirable to see needs of patients, and help individuals deal with those needs through a healthy-based nutrition plan.

After graduation from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, Kimsey plans to apply and attend a Physician's Assistant program located in the south and continue her education in that route. She wants to have the background knowledge of Nutrition Education and her training as a Physician Assistant to help treat and educate patients on not only their obvious health concerns, but how they can manage their health to avoid further injury.
